About Latham & Watkins

Latham & Watkins is one of the world’s leading global law firms advising the businesses and institutions that drive the global economy. We are the market leaders in major financial and business centers globally and offer unmatched expertise and resources to help you grow from an intellectually curious self-starter into an exceptional lawyer. If you aspire to be the best, this is where you belong.

About the Practice Group

Latham guides startups and emerging companies of all sizes as well as the venture capital partners and other institutional partners that finance the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

With market-leading experience advising emerging companies and our integrated global platform, we are ideally positioned to advise clients from formation to equity and growth financings through a public offering and beyond.

Latham combines an unrivaled global platform with deep experience in the innovation industries that drive growth and progress in the global economy, from tech and its many sub-sectors to biotechnology and life sciences to next-gen manufacturing.

We meet our clients where they are. We provide tailored, cost-conscious company formation services and strategic counsel at the earliest stages — and scale up rapidly to meet the most complex challenges companies ever face, providing practical commercial advice to help clients make smarter and stronger moves to meet their business objectives.

As the only global law firm present in all key US and global venture and growth capital hubs — from the Bay Area, Austin, and Boston to London, Hong Kong, and Singapore — we advise on hundreds of emerging company financings totaling billions of dollars every year. Drawing on deep relationships with the world’s leading venture capital and growth equity firms, we connect investors with innovators to fuel growth through a variety of financing structures, from angel and seed investments to structured debt and equity solutions. We work to find the best strategy for whatever comes next.

From the outset of our engagement with an emerging company, we draw on our strength as the world’s leading capital markets and M&A firm to position each client for an optimal liquidity event consistent with the client’s goals. Just as emerging companies are constantly innovating and pushing the envelope, we are constantly innovating to support their developments. For example, we have helped our clients pioneer new ways to go public, such as through direct listings and deSPACs.

Our instinctive knowledge of what comes next, our global vantage point, and our multidisciplinary collaborative culture mean we are more than an advisory partner; we are an extra engine of growth to help drive our clients’ growth.
